walked around my good intentions.

Voice

Has anyone had any experience with a ghost child? I've seen this boy before, but as I was going down to the laundry room he sort of...attached himself to me.

I'd rather not do anything that would frighten or harm him. If they can be harmed. I think he's just looking for a guardian.

Bishop, can I bring him by your room?

Badou? ....Heine?

Voice

I was wondering...why is everyone so opposed to the uniforms? They're perfectly good clothes.

It never hurts to have a spare set. Take it from me.

three times for the holy ghost.

Voice

First I couldn't get rid of it...and now it's repairing itself.

((There's the sounds of muted, smaller scale gunshots in the background quickly followed by the *tings!* of small bullets being blocked by a blade.))

This would be my first time playing with a doll.

And I promise it'll also be my last.

Audio

((There's the creaking of a bed heard, followed by a confused voice.))

A room? I don't think it's mine...

((Silence. There's that all too familiar feeling of not remembering what happened. But it's much weaker than the last time that happened to her. With a few deep breaths, the fog lifts and she's able to remember what happened yesterday.))

I remember the faces above me. There was a young woman, and someone with pointy ears. And... ((She trails off for a moment.)) And an older man with white hair.

((Well, two out of three ain't bad.))

I passed out again after that. The three of you must've helped me and brought me back here. ((Her voice becomes softer, but it's full of gratitude.)) Thank you...

Video/Audio

((The video is from the side and at a slight distance, as if taken by a third party. Naoto is shown in profile and concentrating on something directly in front of her. She's holding two large rings from one of the carnival games. She tosses one and frowns when it misses its mark and clatters to the side. Whatever she's trying to win, she must really need or want.))

It shouldn't be this difficult. There must be some sort of catch to it.

((She studies the game for a few minutes. This is her last ring and she wants to make it count. After a couple of minutes she takes a deep breath and tosses it.

As soon as it leaves her hands, a ring identical to it appears around her neck. It begins constricting before she can even look down to see it hanging there. Her eyes widen and she reaches up, at first trying to get it off and then just struggling to keep it from tightening even more. Her fingers become trapped between the ring and her throat. There's a strangled cry before she manages to pull her fingers free. The ring continues digging more and more into her flesh, as merciless as a choke chain. Barely a sound is heard when she screams, and her face is quickly turning a sickly shade of blue. Her clawing at it gets weaker and weaker, until her eyes roll back into her head and she falls. The video cuts off but the audio continues, the thump that's heard suggesting that the ground caught her.))

I haven't heard of anything bad happening at the carnival yet. But all I can see from the window are a few lights at night.

Nill, would you like to go?

Voice

Misao? I know we haven't talked very much. I wish we could be speaking under better circumstances now. But...I think it's important to cut to the chase.

Do not move in with Heine. Rather, I think it would be a big mistake.

...Huge might be a better word.

Imagine the most violent, vicious, rabid dog that you can.

It would run from Heine.

Not to mention the lung cancer that Badou would give you.

Voice

Two in a row? ((Her voice softens, more like she's speaking to herself.)) There has to be a way of destroying that thing.

I really hate the rain.

Does anyone know how to play cards?

"Hide well.
Your hair might show."

((There's the sound of a sigh, so heavy that it could only belong to the living.))

It's not enough that we're trapped in our rooms most of the time, but now they want to force us to hide too?

"Hide well.
Your hair might show."

It never stops...how are we supposed to sleep? I don't get much on my best days.

"Hide well.
Your hair might show."

...It is a child. Maybe it just needs someone to explain to it.

((A moment for thought passes, then the sound of tape being ripped away. The door creaks as it opens. There's silence...and then she suffers the consequences.))

H-hey! Let go of me!

There's some food on the elevator. Canned goods. If anyone needs some, just press the button for your floor and it should bring it up to you. We can avoid the stairs that way. We couldn't bring back much, so don't take it all. Bishop, Butterfly. Thank you.

Did any of the other groups have luck? The store isn't very far from here. A couple of blocks to the north. But the ghosts aren't limited to the building it seems, so be careful.

It's strange. Sometimes I think I see my father.

...Does anyone know what 'hominy' is? Or..'Spam'?

Voice

It's been over a week... I don't know what the city around us is like, but it can't be much worse than the one I came from. And it can't smell any worse right now.

I think I saw what looked like a store from one of the seventh floor windows. I couldn't be sure from that distance, but...it seems like a good time to find out.

Is anyone else willing to risk it?

Voice

I've been slimed.

But even more alarming than that, I was kidnapped. There's just no way to cut a ghost!

More than anything, I'm angry with myself. I should've known it wasn't him.

Voice

Butterfly, right?

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to make it to your floor. I ran into a little problem.

I taped up the stairwells behind me. That leaves the elevators, but I don't blame anyone if you don't trust them. If you do use the stairs, make sure you seal them back. Maybe we can't cut them, but we can at least keep them on a leash.

I just wish it hadn't ripped the sleeve off my jacket. Better than my arm, I guess.

I spoke too soon...

Did they try to get into anyone else's apartment last night?

I'm not sure how many more hours I can stay awake.

((She finally speaks, making her existence known to many.))

Hm. The dead are certainly much quieter than the living.

Am I the only one who feels like they could get used to this?
